Know No Fear is the latest Horus Heresy novel to be released. We don't need any profound characterisations of the Luna Wolves, no grand revelations or anything. Often, the various ship actions in hope doesn't disappear into the mist. Also question about Vulkan – i dont see the logic for Curze to keep Vulkan imprisoned in his labyrinth? It was an event novel rather than a legion novel. The Ultramarines were like the Luna Wolves, in that the culture aspect wasn't really covered in Know No Fear. When you pick-up Know No Fear and read the first page (maybe the first sentence!) you'll instantly know it's Dan writing. Couple of days ago I was going over a particular juicy battle-scene from my Ahriman fanfic that I wrote last summer and thinking, as I normally do when revisiting my work, 'how the fuck did I write this crap…?'. Know No Fear is unashamedly bolter porn, Dan Abnett style. To me this means the thinking man's bolter porn. It's amazing the Know no Fear by Dan said clearly – that Thiel was with Primarch, when they translated of the system. Sure, we got to see Guilliman and his sons handling the disaster of Calth but that's what the novel was, the “first half” of the Battle of Calth. It's a book about the Battle of Calth, a conflict we all knew would eventually be coming, even from the very first releases of the Heresy series. That's important in Know No Fear, because a great deal of the action takes place in the orbital areas surrounding Calth.
